Préstamos amerindios del perú en las lenguas nórdicas

Abstract

En este artículo se estudia la presencia en las lenguas nórdicas – el danés, el islandés, el noruego y el sueco– de voces amerindias del Perú. Se trata de palabras de origen aimara y quechua que han penetrado en las lenguas nórdicas a través del español y otras lenguas europeas a partir del siglo XVI. Se pretende trazar el camino seguido por las voces seleccionadas desde España –lengua vehícular de la mayoría de los indoamericanismos prehispánicos– a través de las lenguas intermediarias hasta su incorporación a las lenguas receptoras. Además de señalar la fecha y fuente de la primera documentación de los vocablos escogidos se examinará los cambios formales y semánticos sufridos. Las voces estudiadas son guano, coca, cocaína, papa y puma.

The topic of this article is the presence of Indo-American loanwords in the Nordic languages – Danish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish – borrowed via Spanish and other European languages. The words studied in this paper belong to the Quechua and Aymara, languages spoken by the people of the Andes. The history of the words is traced, their journey from the New World to the Old one is examined and their adoption and adaptation to de recipient language is discussed. The first written sources of these Indo-American words in the Nordic languages are texts, translations and chronicles dating from 17th and 18th century and onwards. Many of the words are today a part of the daily vocabulary of the receiving language as, for example, those examined in this article: guano, coca, cocain, potato and puma.
