Nematodes in cod – Spatial and Seasonal Analysis : Hringormar í þorski – útbreiðsla og árstíðasveiflur,

Útdráttur

Data concerning number of nematodes (Pseudoterranova decipiens and Anisakis simplex) in cod were analysed. The data were collected in the project Processing forecast of cod, from 2001-2005. Results indicate a considerable spatial, but less seasonal, difference in number of nematodes in cod. Not all fishing locations were comparable, due to lack of data, but of those who were compared, fewest nematodes/kg were found in cod caught far off from Vestfirdir. Spatial analysis showed correlation between measurements that were taken close to each other, if the measurements were taken in the same quarter of the year. This shows that the number of nematodes in cod that has been caught in a certain location and quarter, can indicate the number of nematodes in cod that is to be caught in the same location and quarter. Correlation was not found between measurements that were not taken in the same quarter of the year, even though they were taken close to each other.
