Opinn aðgangur að rannsóknaniðurstöðum er í samræmi við 10. gr. laga nr. 3/2003 um opinberan stuðning við vísindarannsóknir sem og kröfur innlendra og erlendra rannsóknasjóða. Markmiðið með opnum aðgangi er að niðurstöður rannsókna séu aðgengilegar sem flestum óhindrað og án endurgjalds á rafrænu formi. Vistun í varðveislusafninu er varanleg og ætlað að tryggja aðgang að vísindaefni íslenskra háskóla í opnum aðgangi um ókomna tíð. Varðveislusafnið Opin vísindi er tengt við rannsóknagáttina IRIS og rannsóknaniðurstöður í opnum aðgangi sem eru skráðar í IRIS eru um leið vistaðar og gerðar aðgengilegar til framtíðar í varðveislusafninu. Með því að safna þessu efni saman í eitt safn verður aðgangur að því einfaldur og þægilegur fyrir alla sem vilja kynna sér það og geta þannig notið þess öfluga vísindastarfs sem fram fer í háskólum landsins.
Varðveislusafnið er OpenAIRE / OpenAIREplus samhæft og samrýmist kröfum sem gerðar eru um birtingu rannsóknaniðurstaðna úr verkefnum sem styrkt eru úr evrópsku rannsóknaáætlununum FP7 og H2020.
Varðveislusafnið notar opna hugbúnaðinn DSpace.

Building the checkers 10-piece endgame databases
(Springer New York LLC, 2004) Schaeffer, J.; Björnsson, Y.; Burch, N.; Lake, R.; Lu, P.; Sutphen, S.; Department of Computer Science
In 1993, the CHINOOK team completed the computation of the 2 through 8- piece checkers endgame databases, consisting of roughly 444 billion positions. Until recently, nobody had attempted to extend this work. In November 2001, we began an effort to compute the 9- and 10-piece databases. By June 2003, the entire 9-piece database and the 5-piece versus 5-piece portion of the 10-piece database were completed. The result is a 13 trillion position database, compressed into 148 GB of data organized for real-time decompression. This represents the largest endgame database initiative yet attempted. The results obtained from these computations are being used to aid an attempt to weakly salve the game. This paper describes our experiences working on building large endgame databases.
Efficient key management system for large-scale smart RFID applications
(2015) Sadikin, Mohammad Fal; Kyas, Marcel; Department of Computer Science
Due to low-cost and its practical solution, the integration of RFID tag to the sensor node called smart RFID has become prominent solution in various fields including industrial applications. Nevertheless, the constrained nature of smart RFID system introduces tremendous security and privacy problem. One of them is the problem in key management system. Indeed, it is not feasible to recall all RFID tags in order to update their security properties (e.g. update their private keys). On the other hand, using common key management solution like standard TLS/SSL is too heavy-weight that can drain and overload the limited resources. Furthermore, most of existing solutions are highly susceptible to various threats reaching from privacy threats, physical attacks to various technics of Man-in-the-Middle attacks. This paper introduces novel key management system, tailored to the limited resources of smart RFID system. It proposes light-weight mutual authentication and identity protection to mitigate the existing threats.
Resource modeling for timed Creol models
(2010-10-12) Schlatte, Rudolf; Aichernig, Bernhard; Griesmayer, Andreas; Kyas, Marcel; Department of Computer Science
This paper describes the semantics of a timed, resource-constrained extension of the Creol modeling language. Creol is an object-oriented modeling language with a design that is suited for modeling distributed systems. However, the computation model of Creol assumes infinite memory and infinite parallelism within an object. This paper describes a way to extend Creol with a notion of resource constraints and a way to quantitatively assess the effects of introducing resource constraints on a given model. We discuss possible semantics of message delivery under resource constraints, their implementation and their impact on the model. The method is illustrated with a case study modeling a biomedical sensor network.
Credo methodology : Modeling and analyzing a peer-to-peer system in credo
(2010-10-12) Grabe, Immo; Jaghoori, Mohammad Mahdi; Aichernig, Bernhard; Baier, Christel; Blechmann, Tobias; De Boer, Frank; Griesmayer, Andreas; Broch Johnsen, Einar; Klein, Joachim; Klüppelholz, Sascha; Kyas, Marcel; Leister, Wolfgang; Schlatte, Rudolf; Stam, Andries; Steffen, Martin; Tschirner, Simon; Xuedong, Liang; Yi, Wang; Department of Computer Science
Credo offers tools and techniques to model and analyze highly reconfigurable distributed systems. In this paper, we present an integrated methodology to use the Credo tool suite. In this methodology, we advertise the use of top-down design, component-based modeling and compositional analysis to address the complexity of highly reconfigurable distributed systems. As a running example, we model a peer-to-peer file-sharing system and show how and when to apply the different modeling and analysis techniques of Credo.
Tool Support for Holistic Modelling of Distributed Embedded Systems in Creol
(2009-07-28) Kyas, Marcel; Department of Computer Science
A holistic approach to modelling embedded systems is advocated: Many aspects of a system should be analysed in isolation to keep the task manageable, but they often influence each other during integration in a way that the desired system becomes unrealisable. A tool-supported approach that aims at integrated models of different concerns based on formal methods is suggested to solve this problem. This approach uses Creol, which is a language designed for object-oriented modelling of distributed systems. We report on ongoing work on the design and the implementation of tools that support modelling, validation, and verification. We focus on sensor networks, which are distributed system that consists of many embedded devices with tight constraints on computational power, energy availability, and timeliness. The described tools are a compiler that performs static checks and optimisations, an interpreter that defines a formal semantics, and a prototypical LTL model checker. This supports seamless development with formal methods.
