Surgery for multiple myeloma of the spine : A retrospective analysis of 12 patients
(1992) Jonsson, Bogi; Sjöström, Lennart; Jónsson, Halldór; Karlström, Göran; Department of Engineering
We report on 12 surgically treated patients with myeloma of the spine. Pain relief was obtained in all the patients. Paraparesis was present in 5 patients. All 12 patients subsequently became ambulatory. the average postoperative survival was 2.3 years. Eight patients, all without symptoms from the treated lesion, survived for more than 1 year. Our experience suggests that surgical treatment of multiple myeloma of the spine may be rewarding.

Posterior reduction of a pathologic spinal fracture a case of indirect anterior Dural decompression
(1992) Olerud, Claes; Sjöström, Lennart; Jónsson, Halldór; Karlström, Göran; Department of Engineering
In a patient with paraparesis resulting from a pathologic fracture of Th9, which was due to a breast cancer metastasis, indirect anterior decompression via posterior reduction was performed. the rationale for the operation technique was the similarity between a pathologic fracture of the thoracolumbar spine and a traumatic burst fracture. the method, which uses a transpedicular reduction and fixation device, is substantially less invasive than a formal anterior decompression.

Compression of the cervical spine cord after reduction of fracture dislocations : Report of 2 cases
(1991) Olerud, Claes; Jónsson, Halldór; Department of Engineering
Two cases of severe neurologic damage after open reduction of locked facet joint dislocations of the cervical spine are described. Both patients had progressive neurologic deterioration after the accident. In both cases, the cause of the neurologic injury was sequestrated disk material compressing the spinal cord. One patient, who was reoperated on as an emergency, recovered after removal of the sequestra, whereas the other patient, who was reoperated on later, remained tetraplegic.

Anterior stabilization of pathologic dens fractures
(1990) Sjöström, Lennart; Olerud, Sven; Karlström, Göran; Hamberg, Mats; Jonsson, Halldor; Department of Engineering
By an anterior approach, six pathologic dens fractures were stabilized with screws and methyl methacrylate cement. All the patients had immediate pain relief and could be mobilized without external support. Using the anterior approach, the tumor can be removed and the instability neutralized at the site of the lesion.

The Norwegian victim lawyer in a Nordic context : Professional boundaries, legal hierarchies and purification processes
(2024-03) Antonsdóttir, Hildur Fjóla; Laugerud, Solveig; Faculty of Social Sciences
The victim lawyer has become a common feature in Nordic jurisdictions. Designed to enable victims to participate effectively in the criminal justice system, victim lawyers emerged largely due to the advocacy of the women’s movements and their concern for survivors of rape and other forms of sexual violence. In this paper, we conduct a thematic analysis of interviews and courtroom observations, focusing on how the role and professional status of the Norwegian victim lawyer are perceived. Against the backdrop of the other Nordic jurisdictions, we draw on Bourdieu’s idea of the legal field as a site of struggle to identify perceived legal hierarchies from the perspective of victim lawyers. The findings indicate that the introduction of the victim lawyer in Norway has created tensions and contestations that revolve around both professional and political concerns. These include concerns about the relationship between legal and non-legal work, boundaries of the victim lawyer role and tensions between professional and political loyalties.
